The Thought of Art: Conceptual Art Frameworks
The Thought of Art: Conceptual Art Frameworks is an 8 week course for beginners, self doubters, pre tertiary students or artists in need of some inspiration who want to open their primitive mind and foster critical, creative thinking over technical skill. Run by mr BLœck a waikato based experimental, multi disciplinary, conceptual, creative artist.
There will be presentations, discussions & debates, mark making and physical art alongside research, learning and opening your mind to what lies beyond what you already know.
We will cover the following and more:-
Unlearning "Good" Art - Deconstructing the myth that art requires technical drawing or painting skills.
Tracking Your Attention - Shifting focus from making physical things to observing your own mind, memory, and surroundings.
Embracing Mistakes and Discomfort - Overcoming the fear of failure by treating a lack of control as a primary creative generator.
Changing Perspectives - Practicing looking at familiar spaces, routines, or structures from radically alternative physical or social angles.
Art as a Gesture - Exploring how a fleeting, temporary action can carry immense emotional, historical, or philosophical weight.
Telling Stories with Shadows - Using absence, silhouettes, empty spaces, and negative space to suggest narrative, memory, and emotion.
Subverting the Everyday - Taking a mundane, institutional, or societal routine and subtly disrupting it to make the ordinary feel extraordinary.
Your Personal Manifesto - Synthesising the course by defining what art means to you personally, entirely free from traditional institutional standards.
